Here are also several examples of mundane astrology - astrological principles applied to institutions, countries and the whole world. This way of using astrology was in the past much more common than personal horoscopes.
The astrology basics present the astrological components as they are interpreted in the personal horoscope. They are the twelve Zodiac signs, the twelve planets, the twelve Houses, and the five aspects.
There are astrologers who use additional celestial bodies, as well as additional aspects. Regarding aspects and many other things, I stick to the fundamentals specified by Ptolemaios in his classic on astrology:

(June 2007) The horoscope chart of the American Idol 2007 success Sanjaya Malakar, and my interpretation of it. I predict that he has a few years of fame, and then fades away into another kind of life completely. It is a chart done without the time of day, since that is unknown. Still, much can be said, although some caution is needed. I included this horoscope chart because Sanjaya Malakar and his talent intrigue me, but also as an example of what can be said from a horoscope with the time of day missing. You find it here.
